Bank of Canada raises target for the overnight rate by 1/4 percentage point to 2 1/4 per cent
The Bank of Canada today announced that it is raising its target for the overnight rate by one-quarter of one percentage point to 2 1/4 per cent. The operating band for the overnight rate is correspondingly increased, and the Bank Rate is now 2 1/2 per cent.

Bank of Canada Unveils New $20 Bank Note
The Bank of Canada today unveiled Canada's new $20 bank note, the theme of which is Arts and Culture. The new note was unveiled at a ceremony in Vancouver by the Honourable John McCallum, Minister of National Revenue (by videotape), and Paul Jenkins, Senior Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada.

Bank of Canada Announces Recipients of First Law-Enforcement Award of Excellence for Counterfeit Deterrence
Three recipients, Detective Carmine Palermo, Detective Constable Thomas Hancock, and Detective Constable Harjit Sangha, of the Toronto Police Service (TPS) Fraud Squad, have been selected for their impressive initiative and creative work on "Project Greenback". This project resulted in the seizure of approximately $3 million in counterfeit bank notes, as well as the successful dismantling of multiple counterfeit production facilities in the Toronto area.
