Bio
Nick Leswick was appointed Executive Director, Policy, effective January 2024. In this capacity, he is responsible for overseeing the Bank’s economic and financial sector analysis and research. He also provides oversight of the Bank’s function as fiscal agent for the government of Canada.
At the time of his appointment, Mr. Leswick was the Associate Deputy Minister of the Department of Finance Canada, with broad policy and operational responsibilities across the department. He was previously the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Economic and Fiscal Policy Branch with responsibilities for the fiscal planning framework, economic analysis and forecasting, and the preparation of the federal budget. He has also held senior positions within the International Trade and Finance Branch at Finance Canada, and the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat.
Born in Calgary, Mr. Leswick is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of British Columbia, and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Calgary.
