Bank of Canada Unveils Polymer Bank Note Series: Celebrating Canada’s Achievements at the Frontiers of Innovation
The Bank of Canada unveiled a new polymer bank note series today at its head office in Ottawa. Information on the polymer material and advanced new security features was released, along with the images and designs of the soon-to-be-issued $100 and $50 bank notes. -

A Calibrated Model of Intraday Settlement
This paper estimates potential exposures, netting benefits and settlement gains by merging retail and wholesale payments into batches and conducting multiple intraday settlements in this hypothetical model of a single "calibrated payments system." The results demonstrate that credit risk exposures faced by participants in the system are largely dependent on their relative activity in the retail and wholesale payments systems. -
The Impact of Bankruptcy Reform on Insolvency Choice and Consumer Credit
We examine the impact of the 2009 amendments to the Canadian Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act on insolvency decisions. Rule changes steered debtors out of division I proposals and into the more cost-effective division II proposals. -

Following growth of 1.8 per cent in 2012, the Canadian economy is expected to grow by 1.5 per cent in 2013, 2.8 percent in 2014 and 2.7 in 2015, and to reach full capacity in mid-2015, later than anticipated in the January Report.
