The results of the spring Business Outlook Survey reflect signs of a further strengthening of domestic demand following overall subdued activity over the past two years. This outlook is supported by foreign demand and an expected rebound in activity in energy-producing regions.

Survey results suggest that overall business-lending conditions were essentially unchanged during the first quarter of 2017. This is the third consecutive quarter of unchanged lending conditions.

The Bank of Canada is pleased to announce that Professor Francisco Ruge-Murcia from McGill University is the 2017 recipient of the Bank’s Fellowship Award.
