Bio

Alexandre Ruest is a Director in the Supervision Department at the Bank of Canada where he leads a team responsible for overseeing financial market infrastructures designated under the Payment Clearing and Settlement Act.

Prior to this position, Alexandre held various leadership and individual contributor roles at the Bank including on the development of the Canadian resolution regime for financial market infrastructures, financial sector crisis preparedness, and credit risk assessments of sovereigns and financial institutions. Prior to joining the Bank, Alexandre worked on energy policy and regulation matters at the Ontario Energy Board and at the Ontario Financing Authority.

He obtained his B.A. (Honours) from McGill University and his Masters in Economics from Queen’s University.
