The Bank of Canada is pleased to organize the Annual Economic Conference on Central Banking and the Future of Payments, taking place November 6 and 7, 2025 in Ottawa.
About the conference
The Bank of Canada would like to invite all central bankers, academic researchers, regulators and practitioners with interest and expertise in payments systems, digital currencies and fintech to participate in this conference.
The keynote speaker is Susan Athey (Stanford Graduate School of Business).
The panel speakers include Christine Parlour (Haas Business School, US Berkeley), Christopher Waller (Member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors) and Tobias Adrian (International Monetary Fund).
Limited travel support is available for academic speakers at the conference.
Call for papers
Topics of interest for the conference include:
- Tokenization and financial market infrastructure
- Cross border payments
- Access to central bank payment infrastructure and balance sheets
- Innovations in retail payment ecosystems
- New developments in large value payment systems
- Data privacy and payments
Interested authors are invited to submit their papers (extended abstracts will also be considered) by .
The deadline for submission is April 20, 2025. Accepted papers will be notified by late May.
