The Bank of Canada is pleased to announce this year’s recipients of its scholarship awards for students with disabilities, Indigenous students, LGBTQ2S+ students, francophones and students who identify as a woman or as a member of a racialized group. We know that diversity and inclusion are core to our success as a leading central bank. A more inclusive economy is a bigger economy—a more prosperous economy. That is why our scholarships are designed to encourage Canadians from diverse backgrounds to further their education and consider employment in fields related to the work of the Bank.
The 2023–24 award recipients are:
- Aashay (Aanya) Baindur, pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce at Carleton University
- Alexandra-Jane Lang, pursuing a Bachelor of Communications at Simon Fraser University
- Alix (Noomwende) Ouedraogo, completed a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), with plans to pursue a master’s degree in applied economics
- Allie (Zoey Alessandra) Ross, completing a Bachelor of Economics at Carleton University, with plans to pursue a master’s degree in finance
- Grace Gong, pursuing a Bachelor of Science at Western University
- Hannah Le, pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce at Carleton University
- Jayden Emslie, pursuing a Bachelor of Media Studies at the University of British Columbia
- Jennifer Furman, completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto, with plans to pursue a master’s degree in finance
- Jesse Wang, pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University
- Julianna Drake, pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration at St. Francis Xavier University
- Juscenta Haligowski, pursuing a Diploma in Creative Communications at Red River College Polytechnic
- Mariel Yacolca Maguiña, completing a Bachelor of Arts at McGill University, with plans to pursue a master’s degree in quantitative finance
- Natacha D'Amour-Roy, completing a college degree in business management from Cégep de Sainte-Foy
- Pascal Morimanno, pursuing a Bachelor of Social Science at the University of Ottawa
- Rajpreet Gill, completing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Calgary
- Senai Debebe, pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce at Carleton University
- Sophia Rybnik, pursuing a Bachelor of Science at Toronto Metropolitan University, with plans to pursue a master’s degree in finance or financial economics
- Sosep Hatfield, pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce at Saint Mary’s University
The 2023–24 recipients of the Bank’s Scholarship Award for Post-Secondary Students receive Can$8,000. The award is intended to assist the following students with tuition at an accredited academic institution:
- students with disabilities
- Indigenous students
- LGBTQ2S+ students
- francophones
- students who identify as a woman
- students who identify as a member of a racialized group.
Successful candidates may be offered a work opportunity at the Bank, with mentorship by a Bank employee.
Recipients of the Master’s Scholarship Award for Women in Economics and Finance must have completed or be in the final two years of an undergraduate degree at a Canadian university and self-identify as a woman. In addition to the award of Can$10,000, successful candidates may be offered a work opportunity at the Bank, with mentorship by a Bank employee.
